Questions for TNPSC Group 1 Preliminary exam is of objective type and questions will be of degree standard.

The Questions paper comprises of questions from the Subjects General Studies and Mental Ability. The exam will be conducted only in a single paper. From General Studies subject, 175 questions are included of Degree Standard and From Aptitude and Mental Ability, only 25 questions are included that too SSLC Standard.

Candidates who are Qualified in the TNPSC Group 1 Prelims Exam have to attend for Mains Exam. TNPSC has set the minimum qualifying marks for all the category candidates. SC, ST, BCs have to get minimum 255 marks to qualify and Others have to cross 340 marks to qualify.

After the Mains Exam, 100 marks is separately conducted for interview and records. Posting will be given on the basis of merit secured in the mains exam and interview.

TNPSC Group 1 Mains exam conducted in 3 papers. Each paper comprises of 250 questions

The main examination will be conducted in descriptive type. The mains examination and oral examination will be conducted for a total of 850 marks.
